Sod is grass turf and the part of the soil beneath it held together by the roots. It is commonly sold in either cut-out blocks or in rolls, and is used by landscapers as a means to quickly establish a lawn. While transplanting sod is the quickest way to add a lawn to landscaping, it is also most costly method. However, in landscaping projects where speed is of the essence, it can undoubtedly be the best solution, as it is much quicker than traditional seeding or hydro-seeding methods. Although it takes some time for the roots of the sod to connect the sod to the new location, the lawn can appear to be well established as soon as the sod is put in place.
